Altos de Cristimil has been making wine in the Rías Baixas for over a century; a coastal area renowned for its mineral-rich soils and cool climate akin to the Loire Valley, New Zealand and the Rhine.
The Albariño grape is the region’s flagship variety and a grape from which winemakers Luis Garcia and Jose Manuel Amigo extract the maximum character, concentration and flavour possible from one of the best vineyard plots in the esteemed Salnes Valley.
The 2015 vintage underwent rigorous grape selection (to produce the finest singular fruit expression), partial cold fermentation, and was aged on its lees to add further complexity and character. This is a great opportunity to see just how good the Albariño grape can be.
Intense aromas of fresh pear, green apples and lemon peel, freshly cut grass and white flowers, with a hint of saltiness and granite rock that flows into a seemless mouthfeel. Well-balanced appley fruit, smooth and rounded, with tartness and subtle mineral notes and a lovely long, persistent finish.
